Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 149 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay touches upon the two views—the benefits of sharing information and the necessity of protecting sensitive research—the discussion is superficial and lacks the depth required for an academic task. The arguments are not fully extended, and the personal opinion is not clearly articulated or supported with sufficient examples. Because the response is substantially under-length, it cannot adequately address all parts of the prompt, leading to a low score in this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the paragraphing is ineffective. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the abrupt transition in the second paragraph ('And that total correct somewhere'). The lack of logical sequencing and the absence of clear paragraph breaks mean that the response does not demonstrate the ability to organise information coherently.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on informal or imprecise phrasing (e.g., 'simple to simple things', 'wrong person uses'). There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'today time' instead of 'today's world' or 'inly happens' instead of 'only happens'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about scientific research or business ethics. The student struggles to use academic terminology, which hinders the clarity of the argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Sentence structures are simplistic and often fragmented or run-on, such as 'After covid some many changes had come in daily specially in India payments from Upi apps simple to simple things from apps research with the help of AI'. There is a lack of control over basic punctuation and syntax. The errors are pervasive, and the range of grammatical structures is very limited, preventing the expression of more complex relationships between ideas.
