Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 127 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The essay introduces the topic but fails to discuss both views or provide a personal opinion as required by the prompt. The ideas presented are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth or supporting examples to constitute a full academic response. Because the response is significantly under-length and lacks the required argumentative structure, it cannot be awarded a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at paragraphing, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal or absent. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is abrupt. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. The lack of sufficient length further hinders the development of a coherent structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. Phrases like 'Every sphere of the earth is covered by message' and 'The space is narrower' are unnatural and do not convey the intended meaning clearly. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the attempt to use more complex terms leads to errors in collocation and word choice. To improve, the student needs to focus on using more precise academic terminology and ensuring that words are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'Information is needed to the global community about what's going on?', 'the information should be share', and 'Mostly people share the information form single click'. There is a lack of control over sentence structure, with many sentences being grammatically incomplete or incorrectly formed. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in tense, article usage, and word order.
