Student answer (Band 6.0)
NOWADAYS, IT HAS BECOME FEASIBLE TO ACCESS KNOWLEDGE OF ALMOST ALL FIELDS, SUCH AS BUSINESS, SCIENTIFIC AND ACADEMIC BECAUSE OF TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS. WHILE SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE ALL THE INFORMATION SHOULD BE SHARED WITH PEOPLE, SOME ARGUE THAT SOME VALUABLE INSIGHTS SHOULD BE KEPT CONFIDNTIAL. THIS ESSAY WILL DISCUSS BOTH VIEWS WITH RELAVANT EXAMPLES FOLLOWED BY MY OWN OPINION.
ON ONE HAND, THERE ARE MULTIPLE BENEFITS OF OPEN AND TRANSPARENT SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE. FIRST AND FORMOST IS ACCELERATION OF INNOVATION, BECAUSE THE RESEARCH RELATED TO SCIENCE, ACADEMIC AND BUSINESS CAN HELP OTHER PEOPLE TO GROW THEMSELVES, PROVIDES PATHWAY TO OTHER RESEARCHERS, AND REDUCES THE TIME TO ACCOMPLISHED THE NEW THEORY. FURTHERMORE, IT MAINTAINS AUTHENCITY OF PRODUCTS AND STUDIES, AND PREVENTS DUPLICATION OF THOSE ITEMS, BECAUSE IT MAKES PEOPLE VIGILANT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTS SO THAT CONSUMERS CAN DISTINGUISH THEM FROM FAKE.
ON THE OTHER HAND, SAFEGUARDING SECRET DATA IS ESSENTIAL FOR ENSURING SECURITY. FIRSTLY, IT SECURES COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE, BECAUSE SOME UNIQUE TRADE SECRETS ENSURE BUSINESS SURVIVAL, AND LONG-TERM PROFIT. MOREOVER, SOME CONFIDENTIAL NATIONAL DETAILS NEED TO BE ENCLOSED SO THAT FOREIGN COUNTRIES DO NOT MISUSE THAT INFORMATION TO HARM ANOTHER NATIONS. FOR INSTANCE, MANY MANUFACTURING COMPANIES DO NOT REVEAL THE RECEIPE OF THEIR PRODUCTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR ROLE IN THE MARKET AND TO HAVE LONG-TERM PROFITABILIY.
IN MY PERSPECTIVE, A BALANCED APPROACH SHOUL BE TAKEN BECAUSE SHARING ACADEMIC, INNOVATIVE, AND LEARNING INFORMATIONS IS QUITE BENEFICIAL FOR OTHERS IN PROG WAYS, WHILE SOME CONFIDENTIAL DETAILS SHOULD BE ENCLOSED FOR BETTER SURVIAL OF BUSINESSES, REDUCTION OF NATIONAL DISPUTES AND MAINTAINING PROFITS.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits of sharing information and the necessity of confidentiality. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout, culminating in a balanced conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of innovation and competitive advantage. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial; for instance, the point about 'authenticity of products' is a bit unclear and could have been better linked to the prompt. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the use of cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In my perspective' helps guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. The flow is generally smooth, though the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at more academic phrasing like 'technological advancements' and 'competitive advantage'. There are, however, several spelling errors (e.g., 'CONFIDNTIAL', 'RELAVANT', 'FIRST FORMOST', 'AUTHENCITY', 'RECEIPE', 'PROG WAYS', 'SHOUL', 'SURVIAL') that detract from the overall quality. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and the errors indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise academic terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical slips, such as 'reduces the time to accomplished the new theory' (should be 'accomplish') and 'harm another nations' (should be 'other nations'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the use of capitalization for the entire first paragraph is inappropriate for formal writing. Despite these errors, the meaning is rarely impeded, and the sentence structures are sufficient to convey the intended message.
