Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument and states a position, the discussion is extremely brief and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The second perspective (that information should be protected) is not addressed at all, as the essay ends abruptly after discussing the benefits of sharing. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are covered in detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'First and foremost', and 'As a result'. However, the logical progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the response. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion and the failure to develop the second viewpoint make the overall structure feel fragmented. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between ideas is mechanical rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'share', 'information', and 'research'. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'clain' instead of 'claim' and 'there' instead of 'their'. To achieve a higher score, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations related to the topic of scientific and academic research.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'rest of them clain' (missing article), 'I stand up with latter view' (missing article), and 'people may able to do study' (missing verb 'be'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors occur frequently and occasionally impede the clarity of your message.
