Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both sides of the prompt, discussing the need for confidentiality in sensitive research and the benefits of sharing information for public education. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The introduction is unclear and does not effectively outline the essay's scope. The arguments regarding terrorism and personal safety are somewhat extreme and lack logical depth, while the second body paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples. To improve, you should focus on providing more balanced, nuanced arguments and ensure that your position is clearly stated and consistently maintained throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical or inappropriate, such as 'TO SAY IN THE DAYS' and 'TO OTHER HAND'. These phrases do not function well as logical transitions. Furthermore, the referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that links back to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'SOMRE', 'DICCUSS', 'PERAGRAPH', 'TERORIRTS', 'KNOELDEGE'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, relying on basic, informal language like 'big huge problem' or 'something else'. There is little evidence of an attempt to use academic or topic-specific terminology. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations related to research and business, and pay closer attention to spelling and the appropriate use of formal vocabulary in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some information are'), sentence structure, and punctuation. The writing relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often fragmented or grammatically incorrect. For example, the opening sentence is a run-on that lacks clarity. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and reducing the frequency of errors that make the text difficult to read.
