Student answer (Band 5.0)

some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world.Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely.I will discuss both views in my opinion.First of all my opinion for the first statement is that it is really a good idea that to share as much informtion as possible in scientific research, business and academic world. For example if a person is new in the field and he knows nothing then it will be very helpul form him or her that to share the information as much as a person can.Because it helps him or her to know the things.Much information will give him or her more knowledge and it will be very good for him or her.So i think that we must share the information as much as we can because it helps the new peole who are new in the field.

On the other side some people think that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. My opinion for this statement is that they are also right because some information is too important for example someones personal information about his or her daily life.So oi think that they are also right.

I will give the opinion that both statements are good because we should share the information as much as we can but we do not give the information to the people which is important to us and too valuable for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is very limited. The ideas are repetitive and lack depth, relying on simplistic reasoning rather than exploring the complexities of scientific or business information sharing. The position is stated, but the arguments are not well-supported with specific, relevant examples. For instance, the mention of 'personal information' is not directly relevant to the context of scientific or business research. To improve, you should provide concrete examples, such as intellectual property rights in business or the acceleration of medical breakthroughs through open-source data in science.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow is mechanical and repetitive. The use of cohesive devices is very basic, relying heavily on simple transitions like 'First of all' and 'On the other side'. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the progression of ideas feels circular rather than logical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the structure of the argument does not build effectively toward a conclusion. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices to connect sentences and ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'good idea', 'know the things', and 'very helpful' are used repeatedly. There is little attempt to use academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to research, business, or ethics. Spelling errors, such as 'informtion', 'helpul', and 'peole', are present. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and ensure accurate spelling throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary for higher band scores. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, and issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'the academic world' vs 'academic world'). The grammar is functional but lacks the range and accuracy required for a higher score. Focus on incorporating subordinate clauses and varied sentence structures to improve your grammatical range.
