Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the point about 'patency' (patents) is introduced but not fully explained in the context of the broader debate. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you must expand your supporting examples and ensure the word count is met to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The structure is functional, but it lacks the sophisticated, varied linking required for higher bands. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'dissemination', 'sophisticated', and 'collaboration'. However, there are several persistent errors in word choice and form, such as 'informations' (information is uncountable), 'patency' (should be 'patents'), and 'over access' (should be 'excessive access'). Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'dissimination', 'fascilitate', 'intelligance', and 'mandetory'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on the correct usage of uncountable nouns and proofread carefully for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the development of nation' should be 'the development of a nation') and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before colons and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding articles and pluralization, will help improve your score.
