Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays research become an important paper that anyone needs in their daily life to distinguish between things and to get information from. Some believe that scientific research business and the academic have to include as much information as possible. While others think that some information is too valuable to be shared freely. In this paper we will discuss both approaches and which approach is the best approach to think about.

Starting with the first approach which is giving as much information as possible in scientific research in business and academic world. A lot of people think that it is important to give much information because he or she wants to benefit the reader of that article as much as possible. It is true in some sense because feeding the reader with much information is useful because that is the gold that the reader gain by reading an article and if the writer starts to write a lot, then he will give the gold and diamond and emerald. Variety of information will be given to the reader which is valuable. This way the reader will be benefited a lot.

Turning to the second opinion which is some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. The reader will not get benefited as much as possible, but he will gain the main idea, and his time will not be wasted. The reader will read the main important details about the article, and he will get an idea. I think it is best to be effective while writing and do not include important details that someone can be regretting someday that he put that detail there.

In conclusion, research paper became important for the reader to get information from, but the real question was it necessary to include as much information as possible or just going briefly on the topic. I think writing information that someone will not be regret someday about putting it there, so being effective and do not share important information to not regret that this information is there.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you mention the benefits of sharing information, the explanation relies on metaphors like 'gold and diamond' rather than concrete examples or logical reasoning. The second viewpoint regarding the risks of sharing information is vague; you mention 'important details' that one might regret sharing, but you do not specify what these are (e.g., intellectual property, national security, or privacy). To improve, ensure your arguments are supported by clear, specific examples rather than abstract descriptions. Your position is stated in the conclusion, but it could be more clearly articulated in the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'Starting with the first approach' and 'Turning to the second opinion' are functional but basic. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within paragraphs. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as the transition between the benefits of information and the metaphor of 'gold and diamond'. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'get information', 'give much information', and 'be benefited'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'research become an important paper' and 'feeding the reader with much information'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and precise collocations (e.g., 'disseminate findings' instead of 'give information'). The use of 'gold and diamond' is too informal and metaphorical for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'Nowadays research become an important paper' should be 'Nowadays, research has become an important tool'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the academic world' (missing 'world' in the first paragraph) and 'someone will not be regret someday'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and preposition usage.
