Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the ideas regarding Covid-19 and business competition are relevant, they are not fully developed due to the brevity of the text. To reach a higher band, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and additional examples to meet the word count and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Additionally', and 'For example' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by minor punctuation errors and awkward phrasing, such as the run-on sentence structure in the introduction. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the limited length prevents the development of more sophisticated cohesive links between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innovation', 'pivotal', and 'confidential'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'people contemplate that it is good to have share' and 'if it kept secret'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and sentence construction to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it can benefits', 'Its broadened') and missing articles or incorrect verb tenses ('if it kept secret'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your score.
