Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments provided are quite general and lack specific, concrete examples to support the claims. For instance, the mention of 'privacy issues' or 'security reasons' is vague and could be significantly strengthened with a real-world example, such as the protection of intellectual property in pharmaceutical research or national security concerns regarding military technology. The position is clear, but the supporting points remain superficial, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'As compare to he context of every thing' are confusing and do not effectively link ideas. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression of arguments is hindered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used with the precision required for higher bands. The conclusion is also somewhat disconnected from the main body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'every information' (information is uncountable), 'well known of the changing world', and 'how the world evaluated' (likely meant 'evolved'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate basic ideas, but it lacks the precision and flexibility needed for higher scores. The student relies on basic structures and struggles to use more sophisticated or academic terminology appropriately. Spelling errors, such as 'rappdly', also detract from the overall quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'Supporter of the view that information should share' should be 'Supporters of the view that information should be shared'. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the misuse of basic grammar rules throughout the text makes the writing difficult to follow at times. A greater focus on sentence construction and proofreading is necessary.
