Student answer (Band 5.5)
In my opinion, many people living in this country provides their expertise. It is such an excellent way to offer your opinions. Sharing the information may helps to boost up the progress of that project. Providing information in scientific and academic research help the developers to build on new ideas and designs quickly.
Main reasons to share as much information is that it speed ups the projects, solves global problems and gives opportunity to everybody to give their opinions and it' right of every human being. Due to this everyone grows together and provides the knowledge they have.
For example, in constructing the tallest building of world name as Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, king of united arab emirates gave their opinion to start that project. Now it is famous all over the world.
On the other side many people illustrates that some information are too much valuable and important that they should not be shared freely with the citizens living there.
There maybe some authentic reasons for this.
The myth for keeping information safe is that there are many big companies in world they and have alot of investors. If they offers there secrets then other small companies should copy and compete them.
Security should also be the other reason for hiding it because there maybe some valuable data and techniques that helps company to rise their projects.
According to my personal opinion information should be opened when it helps the public good, but closed when it causes harm or steals hard-earned value from others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The example of the Burj Khalifa is not clearly linked to the concept of 'sharing information' in research or business, making it somewhat irrelevant to the prompt. The arguments regarding business competition and security are mentioned but remain superficial. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more detailed explanations and more relevant, well-integrated examples that directly support your points about scientific and academic transparency versus commercial confidentiality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, 'The myth for keeping information safe' is an awkward transition, and the connection between sentences is sometimes weak. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed at times. Improving the use of transition signals (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'conversely') would help the flow of the argument significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'speed ups the projects' (should be 'speeds up'), 'illustrates that' (should be 'argues that'), and 'rise their projects' (should be 'advance' or 'improve'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to research, intellectual property, and business ethics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many people... provides', 'information may helps'), article usage ('the tallest building of world'), and pluralisation ('some information are'). While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, these are often marred by errors. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and basic sentence construction would be a highly effective way to improve your score.
