Student answer (Band 6.5)
Whilst many believe that sharing as much as information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world a positive thing because it helps to get better solutions, I believe some data is to crucial to be shared publicly, particularly because information in the wrong hands can affect everyone significantly.
On the one hand, sharing every possible information to researchers, business and academic body is important as they can use every piece of it to make a proper solution of societal problems. For example, scientific research often require multiple views to evaluate a topic. Additionally, businesses can identify gaps in the market when they analyse all the data and academia can include important issue in the syllabus to enrich students knowledge. Therefore, for the betterment of a larger community, it is important to share information as much as possible with them.
On the other hand, sensitive information in the wrong hands can have an adverse effect in the society and thus some information needs to be kept confidential. Not everyone in the society wants good for others. There are individuals who want to take advantage of others and using sensitive information as a weapon is one of the ways. For instance, terrorist organizations can use information related to any large corporation to plan attacks. Moreover, in terms of business, competitors may imitate products or services if the information are easily available.
In conclusion, sharing large amount of information is necessary to innovate better solutions in the society. Nevertheless, i think sensitive information should be kept private so that fair competition and safely can be ensured as data in the wrong hands can be dangerous.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and logically developed. For instance, the argument regarding the potential for sensitive information to be used as a 'weapon' by terrorist organizations is a strong, specific example. However, the development could be more nuanced; while the points are clear, they remain somewhat general. To reach a higher band, you could provide more detailed examples or explore the implications of your argument more deeply. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'sharing every possible information,' which is slightly awkward. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the argument well. The use of cohesive devices is generally flexible, though occasionally slightly mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'identify gaps in the market' and 'adverse effect' are used correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'sharing as much as information' (should be 'as much information as possible') and 'enrich students knowledge' (missing possessive apostrophe). Additionally, the phrase 'make a proper solution' is slightly unnatural; 'develop effective solutions' would be more academic. While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, more sophisticated or less common lexical items would be needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'scientific research often require' (subject-verb agreement error), 'information are easily available' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'safely can be ensured' (should be 'safety'). Punctuation is generally fine, though there is a minor error with the lowercase 'i' in the conclusion. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the grammar is generally functional. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of nouns (countable vs. uncountable).
