Student answer (Band 6.5)
Whilst many believe that sharing as much as information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world is a positive thing because it helps to get better solutions, I believe some data is to crucial to be shared publicly, particularly because information in the wrong hands can affect everyone significantly.
On the one hand, sharing every possible information to researchers, business and academic body is important as they can use every piece of it to make a proper solution of societal problems. For example, scientific research often require multiple views to evaluate a topic. Additionally, businesses can identify gaps in the market when they analyse all the data and academia can include important issue in the syllabus to enrich students knowledge. Therefore, for the betterment of a larger community, it is important to share information as much as possible with them.
On the other hand, sensitive information in the wrong hands can have an adverse effect in the society and thus some information needs to be kept confidential. Not everyone in the society wants good for others. There are individuals who want to take advantage of others and using sensitive information as a weapon is one of the ways. For instance, terrorist organizations can use information related to any large corporation to plan attacks. Moreover, in terms of business, competitors may imitate products or services if the information are easily available.
In conclusion, sharing large amount of information is necessary to innovate better solutions in the society. Nevertheless, i think sensitive information should be kept private so that fair competition and safely can be ensured as data in the wrong hands can be dangerous.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. Ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of collaborative research and the risks of sensitive data exposure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, the point about businesses identifying market gaps could be expanded with a more specific example to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing 'sharing every possible information to researchers'. Despite this, the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall structure supports the argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication. There are some attempts at using less common items like 'confidential', 'adverse effect', and 'innovate'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'make a proper solution' (should be 'find a solution') and 'sharing as much as information' (should be 'as much information as possible'). The phrase 'the information are easily available' contains a subject-verb agreement error. Expanding the range of academic vocabulary would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. Examples include 'scientific research often require' (subject-verb agreement), 'information is to crucial' (should be 'too'), and 'the information are easily available' (plural/singular mismatch). Punctuation is generally correct, but the use of 'i' instead of 'I' in the conclusion is a careless error. The control of grammar is sufficient for communication but lacks the consistent accuracy required for higher bands.
