IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Write about the following topic: Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, there is an ongoing debate regarding extent to which information should be shared in scientific research, business and the academic world. While, others think that , it is good to share as much information as possible. However, other think that just shared that information that is too important or too valuable . This essay , i will discuss both persepective views in upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand , supporter of unrestricted information claims that open communication in scientific reseach , business and academia promote collaboration and innovation. By freely exchanging finding and ideas, researchers can build upon each other's work , leading to progress and breakthrough in various fields. For instance, open-access movement in academia encourage scientists to share their research findings with the public, increasing the impact of work and fostering public engagement in science. Moreover in business world, freely communication with stakeholders not only enhance accountability but also trust of people.

On the other hand, some people argue that limited data particularly related to security, important knowledge and personal privacy should be safeguarded. In scientific research, confidential data on human subject or sensitive technological innovation need to be protected to prevent misuse. In the business sector, trade secrets, and intellectual property must be confidential to maintain a competitive edge in the market. Furthermore, in academia, restricting access of certain knowledge make confidential for scholar work.

In conclusion, While sharing information can fuel progress and collaboration in scientific research, business and academia, it is essential to respect the importance of safeguarding certain valuaes or sensitive data. I believe that not all information should be freely in public. Balance between transpetancy and confidentiality is crucial protect intellectual property.
