Student answer (Band 6.0)
Scientific research papers and academic work available online is of great importance, and some people believe that, all the important information can be shared in them while other's believe that the information is of substantial value and should not be shared free of charge. I agree with the latter statement because I believe that important information should not be available to everybody ,and if someone is really keen to get access to it, they should agree to pay a little amount to buy subscription.
A lot of information is available online now a days ,and it is believed by some people that every important information should be accessed by anyone without having any difficulty. It might be a good idea in a way that people can read that information and increase their knowledge about things, but there are some risks attached to it as well. There might be people who are not hardworking, and they can just copy your work, paraphrase it using AI tools, and publish your work using their own name.
I am convinced that the crucial information provided in the research publications, business and academic work should not be accessed freely by everyone, and if a researcher needs to access it they should agree to pay a small subscription to get a permission from the author. Recently in my university a student just copied the work of some other author, while writing his research paper and wrote the critical information with his own words. I believe that there should be strict regulation around accessing the crucial information provided in academic resources available online.
In conclusion, even when some people have a view that important information should be shared in scientific research , business and academic world, I am convinced with the people having opposite point of view, that the crucial information should not be accessed freely, as it might get stolen by new researchers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and clearly states a personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the risk of plagiarism, the discussion regarding the benefits of open access is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on why some people advocate for open access, perhaps by discussing the acceleration of scientific progress or the democratization of knowledge. Your position is consistent, but the supporting arguments could be more nuanced and detailed to fully explore the complexities of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In conclusion' and 'However', but the flow between sentences can feel a bit mechanical. Some transitions are repetitive, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better link the general argument about risks to your specific example of university plagiarism. Overall, the logical progression is sufficient, but it lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial value', 'crucial information', and 'strict regulation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'buy subscription' (should be 'purchase a subscription') and 'wrote the critical information with his own words' (should be 'in his own words'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication needed for a higher score. Attempting to use more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and articles. For example, 'now a days' should be 'nowadays', and there are unnecessary spaces before commas. You also have some issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'all the important information can be shared in them'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for minor slips and refining complex sentence construction will be beneficial.
