Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is debated among most of the people like some people think that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and academic world. While other argued that information is too important to be shared freely.

On the one hand, It is better to share the knowledge about things such as scientific research, business and the academic world. From my point of view, we must share the information to those who do not know about these. Whenever we share the information the juniors or the new members get to know and they do the work without the big mistakes. In my opinion this view of people has advantages because when I was a junior, my seniors shared some information about the work because at that time i did not knew about the things.

On the other hand, it is also true that some information is too important to be shared freely. It has some disadvantages like personal information, if someone got our personal information like a hacker, he began to blackmailing us and due to this some people can also take serious steps like suicide which leads to death. So they are also true that we do not share much information.

In conclusion, both topics are valuable but in my opinion the first statements wins because it helps a lot to achieve the aim. If your aim to be successful then the information from someone can teach you a lot and can lead to the success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is quite limited. The arguments regarding scientific and business research are underdeveloped, relying on personal anecdotes rather than broader, more analytical perspectives. The discussion on the 'cons' of sharing information is somewhat tangential, focusing heavily on personal privacy and cybercrime rather than the intellectual property or competitive advantage issues typically associated with the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of information sharing in professional and academic contexts with more sophisticated reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'Whenever we share', 'due to this'). The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is mechanical. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the somewhat simplistic sentence structure make the flow feel a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of cohesive devices would significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'good to share', 'important', and 'things'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'the first statements wins' and 'take serious steps'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to research, intellectual property, and business strategy, and focus on using more precise adjectives and verbs to convey your points more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'It is debated among most of the people like some people think', 'i did not knew', and 'So they are also true that we do not share'. These errors, particularly with verb tense and subject-verb agreement, are noticeable. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over complex structures prevents a higher score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for tense consistency will be beneficial.
