Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to discuss both views regarding information sharing in scientific research, business, and academia, but the development of ideas is severely hindered by limited language and a failure to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, as the text contains only 215 words. Furthermore, the student struggles to maintain a clear position, and the arguments presented are vague and underdeveloped. Sentences such as 'the researcher information can support our knowledge for different purposes like that, invention the atom bobs and weapons' fail to clearly articulate the complexities of the prompt. Because the task is only partially addressed with underdeveloped ideas and an under-length penalty, this warrants a band score of 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The organisation of the essay shows basic paragraphing attempts, but overall coherence is significantly disrupted by poor sentence structures and a lack of logical progression. While transition words like 'In this essay', 'On the other hand', and 'Secondly' are used, they often introduce confused or disconnected statements. Referencing is frequently unclear, leaving the reader struggling to follow the relationship between ideas. For instance, the transition 'According other think that, we can share with others freely that is why...' creates confusion rather than logical flow. Paragraphing is also erratic, with isolated sentences forming separate blocks. Consequently, the structural progression fails to meet the criteria for a higher band, resulting in a score of 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and often misused, which severely strains the reader's comprehension. The writer attempts some topic-related terms like 'scientific research', 'business', and 'academic world', but these are overshadowed by non-standard word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'information's' and 'valuable too shared freely'. There are noticeable issues with word forms, such as 'invention' used instead of 'inventing' or 'invention of'. While there is a minimally adequate range to touch upon the topic, the frequency of lexical errors and unnatural phrasings place this response firmly at band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the text, with a very limited range of structures successfully produced. Most complex sentence attempts are heavily flawed and ungrammatical, such as 'There are various information's related to anything, such as business and academic, scientific research, we share with others because of improved our knowledge.' Errors in tense, word order, articles, and prepositions are pervasive and frequent, causing significant difficulty for the reader and frequently obscuring meaning. Simple sentences also contain basic errors, and punctuation is often misused. Due to the high frequency of errors across nearly every sentence, the grammar corresponds to a band 4.0.
