IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Write about the following topic: Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern world, the free exchange of information is a topic of debate. While some argue that knowledge should be open to all in science, bussiness and education, other claim that certain data must be protected due to its value. This essay will discuss both views before giving my opinion.

First of all, we discuss first point of view that the sharing the information progress the well in the different types of fields like science, bussiness or the academic. In science, if the research on the covid 19 are not open at the International level than the millions od people were died.All over the world, scientist shares different thoughts and made the vaccine. In academic, student or teachers share their information with one another that helps them to enhance their knowledge or learning.

On the other hand, the other point of view is to not sharing any type information because thay belief it is too valuable. In business, there are lot of companies or factories that make a various type products, if these Business Man share our secret information or data, so it disturb their reputation. In science, if the scientist reveal the information about the Nuclear weopens or Bio weopens than the other enemy country or Terrorist misuse their informaation against them.

I beleive balance is needed, Basic scientific and the academic knowledge should be free , but the business secrets or dangerous information should be protected. Goverenments should make laws to protect valuable data while encouraging open access the beneficial research.

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to the topic such as 'international level', 'reputation', and 'beneficial research'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'bussiness', 'other claim', 'od people were died', and 'Business Man'. While these errors occasionally highlight limitations, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary employed is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning, which aligns well with a Band 5.5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at subordination and conditional structures. Nevertheless, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, article usage, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'if the research on the covid 19 are not open', 'scientist shares', 'if the business man share our secret information', and 'encouraging open access the beneficial research'. These errors in grammar and punctuation can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, though they rarely impede overall communication entirely, justifying a Band 5.0 evaluation.
