Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to address the task by outlining both views and giving a personal opinion, but the response is severely underdeveloped and abruptly cut off. Crucially, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, with the text containing only 176 words. While the writer manages to state their view in sentences like 'I agree from the individuals who believe that the information is delievered freely', the ideas lack adequate extension and support. Furthermore, the final paragraph breaks off mid-sentence ('Because in some circumstances they are right, the se...'), resulting in an incomplete response. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, which heavily limits the band score under the official descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some basic structural organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding attempt, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is attempted, although the third paragraph is overly dense and combines multiple distinct points without sufficient breathing room. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, heavily relying on phrases like 'The individuals who believe' and 'The research in the field of'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a finished conclusion significantly impacts the overall cohesion and logical flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on formulaic phrases such as 'scientific analysis', 'business and educational world', and 'welfare of society'. There are noticeable spelling and word formation errors throughout the text, including 'Intitially', 'delievered', and 'lifes'. While the student attempts some subject-specific terminology like 'medicinal research' and 'unemployment', the overall lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The frequent errors in word choice and spelling occasionally cause strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and repetitive complex forms. There are frequent errors in prepositions and collocation, such as 'agree from the individuals' instead of 'agree with', and punctuation spacing errors like missing spaces after commas. Furthermore, sentence structures are often awkward or incomplete, culminating in a fragment at the very end of the text. While the core meaning of the earlier sentences remains understandable, the density of grammatical slips and the incomplete ending prevent the writing from achieving a higher score.
