IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Write about the following topic: Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Over the recent years, issues regarding sharing have become a hotly debated issue in society. There has been a contraversy as to whether share data on specific topics or to keep it confidential. A substantial number of people are of the view that various data is too worthy to be leaked freely to the public due to the privacy issues. This essay will elucidate the purpose of these suggestions and their impacts on the society.

There are various specialists of their field who support the idea of sharing. They firmly believe that the more data we share the much is better. In the world of the academic and research centers, individuals demonstrated that the more awareness we spread the more information we get. The reason behind this assumption is that when a news outbreaks in our society a number of jounalists and many other professionals initiate to dig their own reasearch. Despite having limited information people go the extra mile to find the detailed pros and cons. This method can create a sense of responsibility and the nation can play their role as a consistent society. To illustrate, the hot news concerning a businessman got an award can spread a sense of accomplishement in his supporters and they will try to be diligent to open the doors of oppurtunities for themselves. At present, media is the major source of the communication due to its wide aspects and broad range of audiance. The information sharing method can motivate and inspire others to achieve their goal and to be an exceptional.

In contrast, a significant population is against this sharing as they think that numerous data is too indispensable to be shared with the people. Although it is a common saying that 'sharing is caring', professionals beg to differ due to various reasons. Firstly, sharing any specific data or news without proper planning can raise the expectations of the society regarding some news. A case in point is that the introduction of a college to the public without any futur planning can lead to misconception as issues can be arrise in the future such as funding crisis. In this way, public will be dissapointed and their behavior will alter for these constructors.

To colclude, it sgnificantly depend on the kind of information that is to be shared to be confidential. The catching up with the public can be advantageous if it is done will limited restrictions. Consequently, telling future planning to anybody can jinx the plan due to citizen's sense of jelousy.

Furthermore, collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'when a news outbreaks' or 'telling future planning'. These lexical inaccuracies and persistent spelling mistakes cap the score at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses (e.g., 'The reason behind this assumption is that when a news outbreaks in our society a number of journalists...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in verb tense, article usage, preposition selection, and word forms.
