Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued among various people, whether it is good to share as much as information possible in the fields of scientific research, business and academics, on the other hand, few individuals strongly feel that information is too valuable and important to be shared out freely.
I partially agree with the above statement.
In recent days, it is very easy to access information as it is ready available on multiple flatforms such as internet, newspapers article etc. over sharing of such information can also increase the chances of plagiarism if official source is not being attached to it.
On the other hand, there’s a lot of hard work that goes into generating a particular research and overshasharing of it might easily give away the

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 125 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed and remains severely under-developed. While the introduction attempts to paraphrase the prompt and briefly states a partial opinion, the body paragraphs cut off before fully exploring both views or providing sustained arguments. The discussion on plagiarism and hard work touches upon relevant ideas regarding free sharing versus protection of research, but these points are left incomplete. According to the band descriptors, a response that is significantly under-length cannot achieve a passing score for task completion, capping this criterion at a band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates an attempt at logical organisation, opening with an introductory statement followed by paragraph breaks. However, due to the incomplete nature of the response, overall progression is severely disrupted. Cohesive devices are minimal, with a reliance on phrases like 'on the other hand' to contrast views, though used somewhat repetitively or abruptly. Paragraphing is initiated, but the essay terminates mid-sentence before fully developing coherent ideas. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a conclusion and the truncated final sentence prevent the text from achieving a higher level of structural cohesion, placing it firmly at a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, featuring topic-related terms such as 'scientific research', 'business', 'academic world', and 'plagiarism'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'as much as information possible' and 'ready available on multiple flatforms', alongside spelling errors like 'flatforms' and the invented word 'overshasharing'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but precision and word choice are inconsistent due to these slips. While the vocabulary is not completely basic, the frequency of inaccuracies limits the overall lexical score to a band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of sentence structures, including complex sentences in the introduction. However, grammatical control is weak throughout the short text. There are notable grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('as information possible'), incorrect prepositions, and structural issues like run-on clauses in the opening sentence ('It is often argued... on the other hand...'). Furthermore, the response ends abruptly mid-sentence, demonstrating a lack of control over sentence completion. Because errors are frequent and some structures are faulty, hindering the clarity of the argument, this criterion warrants a band 5.0.
