IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Write about the following topic: Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

Sharing information always increase knowledge. Some people think that sharing information in various field is good while other thinks people should not share some useful and most impotant inforamation. I agree with both the view at some point, discussing knowledge is beneficial but some information are too sensitive to share freely.

The people who thinks that facts about academic,research and business should be shared, it can increase people knowledge about certain aspects are right. because sharing new news or details can be beneficial for people that have intrerest in that specific knowlegde. For example sharing latest scientific research online about the treatment of a disease can help lot of patients and also helps doctors that are doing treatment of that specific disease.

On the other hand, some people argue that some information are too valuable and important to be shared online which is also true. For instance if a research or a data on negative thing were shared online many people with criminal mindset can use that data to blackmail a

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The people who thinks', 'information are too sensitive') and punctuation. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at complex sentences lead to structural faults and run-on phrasing, such as 'The people who thinks that facts about academic,research and business should be shared, it can increase...'.
