Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, mankind have started working more in groups to develop and obtain results confirmed by individuals from different professions. A few people believe that sharing information is beneficial in various fields like scientific researchs, businesses and other education releated discussions. Alternatively, some consider that a piece of information that is more significant is not to be shared freely with everyone.

Spreading information at different levels helps other to keep data they will be needing in future. Keeping knowledge around a specific group of people will cause no benefits for the upcoming generations. For example, In past the physicians had told us about different aspects like gravity and solar system and as a result we are able to fly in air and even landed on moon.

Although having knowledge is beneficial in numerous ways but it highly depend on the person,s intention about using that information. Sometime a certain type of information is too valueable that hiding it from general public is a vital approach. For example, having basic training of first aid is very important, but if a person is taught how to perfom a surgery than he will probably consider to open his own surgery clinic without having any degree from a medical college and no licence from the health authorities.

In my opinion, information must be shared among public but at a particular level. Precious data should be kept away from reach of such individuals whose intention's could result in horrible consequences.

In coclusion, information should not be treated like wealth by keeping it away from people but such data which had no concerned with local individuals must be kept somewhere safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both views regarding open versus restricted information sharing in scientific research, business, and academia, while also presenting a clear personal opinion. The writer discusses the benefits of historical and open access to data, alongside the potential risks associated with sharing sensitive information prematurely or inappropriately, such as medical training. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or supported with unusual examples, like the example of a person performing surgery after receiving first aid training. The position is maintained throughout the essay, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is generally coherent with an overall logical arrangement, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides and the writer's opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as 'Spreading information at different levels helps other to keep data they will be needing in future' and 'In coclusion'. Referencing and logical progression occasionally falter, leading to a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'physicians', 'health authorities', and 'horrible consequences'. There are, however, noticeable word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, including 'scientific researchs', 'education releated', 'valueable', 'perfom', and 'coclusion'. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as concessive clauses starting with 'Although' and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('mankind have started', 'helps other'), awkward punctuation ('person,s intention'), and preposition errors ('flown in air', 'no concerned with'). These errors cause some distraction and occasional difficulty, placing the grammar at a Band 5.0.
