Student answer (Band 5.0)

In my prospective,to share information is a good thing if its a survey or if its being used to upgrade your business. For instance,if a person has to open or launch a startup or a business and he just want to know about his customer's taught.I think its a good idea because he just develope his customer service or products according to need.It might be convenient for him or just a piece of cake for him in launching his product, setting his price and also helps to improve his product.Sharing your information can also boost scientific researches like helps them to get their aim and also make it easy to achieve the goal they want.Scientists invent things to help us so we also have to contribute ourself with them.

On the other hand,it might be dangerous for us to reveal secrets and to share our private information. To some extent, may be it can cause a serious and huge problem for us.Like if we reveal our daily routine to other it might cause some privacy issue and also telling about myself to others is like exposing myself to others and it causes several problems and also causes some cyber attack and not good for family and friends like exposing them also.Imagine if a business look over your need and he knows you don't have anyother way. So,he gives his service with higher price because you do not have any other options. So,we just don't have to expose ourself to other and have to ensure that our privacy is protect.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on information sharing in research and business, and a personal opinion is presented. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on scientific research relies on vague assertions like 'helps them to get their aim', and the counter-argument about personal data and business pricing shifts focus slightly away from formal academic/business contexts towards general personal privacy. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the ideas are limited and under-developed, lacking specific, well-supported examples. Consequently, the performance aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is addressed, but the position and ideas require much deeper extension and clearer justification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into two main body paragraphs, representing the two opposing views. However, paragraphing is insufficient for a well-structured essay, as there is no clear introduction or conclusion. Progression is also limited; transitions between sentences often feel abrupt due to a lack of accurate cohesive devices. For example, the text relies heavily on repetitive structures and simple linking words like 'so' and 'like' (e.g., 'So, we just don't have to expose ourself...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and overall cohesion is mechanical. These features place the response firmly in Band 5, where there is some organisation, but overall progression lacks clarity and cohesive devices are inadequate or misused.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on everyday phrases such as 'a piece of cake', 'good thing', and 'bad thing'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'startup', 'customer service', and 'privacy issue', but word choice and collocation are often awkward (e.g., 'customer's taught' instead of 'thoughts', and 'business look over your need'). Additionally, there are noticeable spelling and word-formation errors, such as 'prospective' instead of 'perspective', 'develope' instead of 'develop', and 'protect' instead of 'protected'. These limitations restrict the lexical range to a minimally adequate level, making a Band 5 score appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying predominantly on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent punctuation and grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing spaces after punctuation marks (e.g., 'prospective,to share', 'instance,if'), subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'he just develope', 'business look over'), and pronoun misuse ('exposing myself... and it causes several problems... and also causes...'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures, placing the grammar firmly at Band 5.
