Student answer (Band 5.5)

Information plays a crucial role in our live, information can be of any type like about business, scientific research or on any study material. some believe that it is good to share information freely while other says that some information can be very important or are not to be shared openly. In in my opinion, it basically depend on what kind of information it is and rather it is benefitial to be exposed.

First foremost, people who think it is benefitical to tell informtion to other. Information related to study or sicientific research these type of information is not harmfull. By providing information in scientific research can be helpfull in making new cure of different disease. In acadamics providing information to others can help them to understand topic easily which help them later in life and in tests or in exams.

On the otherhand, people who says that sharing information freely can also harm them are also right. In most of the businesses information is kept secret for instance Coca Cola company have kept their recipe secerate which hepl them to stay strong in the market othewise if their formula of their product get exposed it can be disaster for them. Not only information of businesses are kept secerate, sometimes personal information of individual life are aslo kept secerate like personal financial stauts of other family problems. As when these type of personal data get exposed it impact persons daily tasks and image in society too.

In conclusion, giving information is not bad as it depends on what type of information you are passing foward and will it impact persons life of not.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the benefits of open scientific and academic sharing, and the necessity of protecting confidential business and personal information—while also providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the explanation regarding scientific research simply states that information 'can be helpfull in making new cure of different disease' without exploring the broader societal or economic implications. Similarly, the business example touches on Coca-Cola, but lacks deeper analysis. While the position is clear throughout, the support remains at a basic level, aligning best with Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat problematic; the first body paragraph opens abruptly and contains multiple distinct points that would have been better separated. Furthermore, cohesive devices are occasionally faulty or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'information' and phrase connectors like 'First foremost' and 'On the otherhand' (with minor spelling slips). Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance using pronouns like 'they' and 'it' ambiguously. Overall, the logical progression is hindered by these mechanical elements, fitting the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range well.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about business secrecy and scientific research. However, the range is quite limited, and there is noticeable repetition of words such as 'information', 'secerate' (secret), and 'benefitial' (beneficial). There are also several spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'live' instead of 'lives', 'rather' instead of 'whether', 'acadamics' instead of 'academics', and 'stauts' instead of 'status'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('information can be... other says'), missing articles ('in business', 'to stay strong in market'), and awkward phrasing ('rather it is benefitial to be exposed'). Punctuation is also problematic, leading to run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'Information plays a crucial role in our live, information can be of any type...'. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, the grammar profile aligns with Band 5.0.
