Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on sharing research and business information, and includes a concluding personal opinion. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the arguments regarding space research and business difficulties are overly brief and lack sufficient explanation or concrete details. The position is stated, but the support provided throughout the body paragraphs is basic and generalized. To achieve a higher level, the writer would need to fully extend and support each viewpoint with well-developed, coherent examples that thoroughly explore the implications of free information sharing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents some basic organization and attempts to use introductory and transitional phrases such as 'Initiating with the points supporting first school of thought' and 'On its constrasting side'. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive sentence patterns. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, and paragraphing, while present, lacks smooth internal cohesion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'if they leads to some evils people'. Improving logical progression and utilizing a wider, more natural range of cohesive ties would enhance the structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas. There are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'peoples' instead of people, 'concequences', 'peope', 'seak' for seek, 'realted', 'onsumming', 'aids', and 'in conlusion'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary often result in awkward collocations or incorrect word forms, which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their working vocabulary, refining word choices to suit the academic register, and carefully checking spelling and word forms before submission.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('many individuals thinks', 'some information are'), article usage ('in a sensibe conclusion'), and prepositional patterns. Sentence boundaries are occasionally blurred, leading to run-on phrases and punctuation issues. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader in places. To reach higher bands, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, ensure consistent agreement, and reduce the density of basic grammatical slips.
