Student answer (Band 5.0)
Sharing information in scientific research, business and the academic world is an important factor that shapes the thinking of people and leads to developments in practical world. For example scientific researchs taught how humans evolved over time, how the world actually works, how the human body works, how earth is to be preserved etc. And these similar aspects can also be linked with the academic world as it teaches students about these findings. Information about business however teaches you how to survive in an extremely saturated market while trying to maximise the profits. In short, the information that comes from all three teaches humans how to practically survive in this world while understanding the nature and humans that's why it is sometimes considered too important or too valuable which honestly is a fact. For example, people working in the world of business may use the excessive information in a negative way by going for shortcuts like smuggling. Similarly the scientific researchs can also create curiosity amongst humans and they may want to do experients that may cause harm to the community eg. doing research on alive humans or animals. Furthermore the academic world may help you understand law however it may also help you understand how to escape the loopholes and commit crimes while managing to escape the conviction. In my opinion, sharing as much information as possible can powering for the people however sharing valuable information is most likely to become overwhelming that's why it depends on the kind of information.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The length requirement is NOT met: the response contains 244 words, which is 6 words short of the 250-word minimum (8 words copied from the prompt were excluded). The response addresses the task only partially. While both views regarding the sharing of information in science, business, and academia are acknowledged, the position is not always clear, and the ideas presented are limited and under-developed. For instance, the transition into why information might be dangerous—mentioning smuggling or harmful experiments on humans or animals—is abrupt and lacks sufficient support or logical connection to the prompt's core debate. Furthermore, the conclusion is brief and does not adequately summarize a fully realized viewpoint, keeping the response at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organization with an introduction, a body of ideas, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression. The response suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as nearly the entire essay is compressed into a single, dense block of text, making the logical flow difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are inadequate or repetitive; transitions such as 'For example', 'And these similar aspects', and 'Furthermore' are mechanically overused to link loosely related sentences rather than to build a cohesive argument. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when 'excessive information' is introduced without a clear antecedent, contributing to a disjointed reading experience.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic concepts related to research, business, and academia. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'scientific researchs' (plural form error), 'on alive humans', and 'can powering for the people', which cause some difficulty for the reader. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'saturated market', 'maximise the profits', and 'loopholes', imprecise phrasing and word-formation inaccuracies prevent the response from achieving a higher level. Spelling is generally acceptable, but overall lexical control remains restricted.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on strings of simple clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions or repetitive relative clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in article usage, plurals, prepositional patterns, and punctuation. For example, missing commas and run-on structures frequently impede clarity, as seen in sentences like 'Information about business however teaches you how to survive in an extremely saturated market while trying to maximise the profits.' Frequent grammatical errors across basic and complex patterns require effort from the reader to untangle the intended meaning.
