Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others argue that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. I will discuss these views and i will share my opinion. I think that professionals invented new things in science, any formulas are created in business and confidential information in academic world will be hidden after successful launch, it will be share to public for general knowledge and for personal use for students.
On one hand, some people argue that it is good to share information for public to know about it. For example, covid vaccine released after succesful trails in animals. After releasing every country should use the formula for their country people and created tons of vaccines to share across the world. So, it is helpful to people to share information after trails.
On other hand, some other people believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. For instance, some countries shoudn't share information of their border secrets. Because other countries will attack their border and destroy their country. Therefore, some peole think it is not safe to share information.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the information which shares to people will useful for students for their futher education not for countries destruction. I shared my opinion and also discussed both views. So, I would recommend use the information for knowledge not to destory others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response is 49 words short of the 250-word minimum, as 50 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Regarding the content, the essay addresses the task only partially. While it touches upon both views regarding open sharing versus keeping information confidential, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the paragraph attempting to discuss business and academic formulas abruptly concludes that information is hidden only after a successful launch, without fully exploring the nuances of commercial secrecy or academic competition. The examples provided, such as border secrets and COVID-19 vaccines, are briefly stated without deep extension or rigorous support. To move to a higher band, the writer must meet the word count requirement and expand significantly on each viewpoint with well-reasoned explanations and fully articulated examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with the use of standard paragraph breaks and transition markers such as 'On one hand' and 'In conclusion'. However, the overall progression is limited, and the logical flow is hindered by repetitive statements and abrupt transitions. For example, the thesis statement introduces a cumbersome listing structure ('I will discuss these views and i will share my opinion. I think that...') that fails to clearly map out the essay's direction. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the concluding paragraph where pronouns like 'which shares' and 'I shared' create confusion. While paragraphing is attempted, the internal cohesion within paragraphs relies heavily on mechanical repetition rather than smooth logical progression. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure that ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next without disjointed leaps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic meaning. The writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'scientific research', 'confidential information', and 'formula', but noticeable errors occur in word choice, form, and collocation, such as writing 'succesful trails' instead of 'successful trials', and 'shoudn't' instead of 'shouldn't'. Phrases like 'tons of vaccines' and 'countries destruction' demonstrate an awkwardness in style and inappropriate register for an academic task. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips cause some minor difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more precise range of vocabulary, demonstrating better control over less common lexical items and ensuring correct word forms and spellings throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic compound structures. Attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to noticeable structural errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'the information which shares to people will useful for students'. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, articles, and prepositions, including missing articles ('in business', 'in academic world') and incorrect prepositions inside grammatical patterns. Punctuation and capitalization errors, such as the lowercase 'i', also detract from the overall quality. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer must incorporate a dependable mix of complex structures with higher accuracy and pay closer attention to basic sentence mechanics, agreement, and prepositional use.
