Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly involving world the issue of sharing information whether it should be necessary or unecessary has become a matter of considerable public interest promoting widespread debate about its impact on individual and society. Many people believe that it is good to share information in scientific research, business and academic world, while other argue that these information are very crucial or to valuable to be shared freely. This essay disscuss the both views before giving my opinion.

On the one hand, Some people shared information to help others, like for academic purpose, scientific research and bussiness purpose these information might help them to finish there work. For example many of office workers shared their information to their collegues to help them. Moreover, many students share information to their friends to help them in their studied. For example, a student help their childhood friend to help him in his assignment. So, positive shareing will help others.

On the other hand, information is a key to success. Some information are top secrete, so they should not tell anyone freely. Information is very important for everyone. Keeping information secrete is the first priority of every sector. For example, if information of a software company is leaked and all data is revealed it should be very disturbing for that company because all important notes ideas and every necessary data is leaked. From my perspective, although sharing information may help others but oversharing or sharing those information which is the base of every sector will be harmfull for company as well as for society.

In conclusion, However sharing information help others in many areas of their life but shareing those information which is the top secrete may be harmfull for society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the prompt asks the writer to discuss both views regarding information sharing and give their own opinion, the ideas presented remain limited and under-developed. For example, in the body paragraphs, instead of fully exploring broader societal, economic, or scientific implications, the writer relies on simplistic, repetitive assertions, such as stating that office workers share information with colleagues or students help friends with assignments. Furthermore, the position taken in the introduction is somewhat generalised and lacks clear expansion in the conclusion, where the summary is overly brief and repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and follows a clear paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and repetitive, particularly through the excessive use of transitional phrases like 'For example' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is not always clear; phrases such as 'these information might help them' create vague links between ideas. While the overall logical organisation is visible, the progression of thought stalls due to limited elaboration and simplistic transitions, preventing the response from reaching a higher level of cohesive flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'significant public interest' and 'top secrete', but these attempts are often marred by noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice, including 'involving' instead of 'evolving', 'unecessary', 'disscuss', 'bussiness', 'shareing', and 'harmfull'. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'positive shareing' or 'secret information' being referred to as 'top secrete'. These lexical errors and awkward choices cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted vocabulary resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement problems, such as 'these information are' and 'information are top secrete', as well as missing articles and awkward prepositional usage within basic sentence patterns. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on constructions like 'In today's rapidly involving world the issue of sharing information...'. These persistent grammatical slips restrict the writing to a lower band level.
