Student answer (Band 5.5)
certain individuals think that it is favorable to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business, and the academic world while others believe that few information is too crucial or much valuable to be shared freely. sharing as much information in scientific research, business and academic world help in improving the quality of institutions and business while sharing too much vital information freely can cause damages to humanity and can be misused.
firstly sharing the information in scientific research business and academic world help academic institution, businesses to improve their quality from getting updated information as a result academic institutions are able to provide the better education and businesses can grow by providing quality products.
however some information is too much vital to share freely because it can cause damage by sharing that information individuals or institutions can misuse the information or experimenting the illegal things which can damage to the humanity for example in japan where normal citizens of the country have no access to the arms and ammunitions a teenager have access to the information of how to make gun by avilable resources and attempted to murder the prime minister of JAPAN so that is the reason i agree with that vital information can not be shared freely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on sharing scientific, business, and academic information and providing an opinion. However, the length requirement is not met; the student's response contains 237 words, which is thirteen words short of the 250-word minimum, with fifteen words copied from the prompt left uncounted. Ideas are limited and under-developed, reflecting the partial coverage of the task. While the writer manages to state an opinion and touch upon the benefits and dangers of open information sharing, the supporting arguments lack depth and extension. For instance, the example regarding the incident in Japan is briefly mentioned without robust elaboration to fully support the contention that critical data should be restricted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation to the essay, evident in the division into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow between ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing and inadequate cohesive devices. Cohesive ties are overly basic and sometimes inaccurate, relying heavily on simple connectors like 'firstly', 'however', and 'in conclusion'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal referencing and transitions within paragraphs can be mechanical or unclear, which disrupts the smooth development of the argument from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic concepts about information sharing. There is a noticeable lack of variety, with frequent repetition of words such as 'information', 'scientific research', 'business', and 'academic'. Noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation are present, such as writing 'few information' instead of 'some information', 'much valuable' instead of 'very valuable', and 'experimenting the illegal things'. These lexical slips and spelling inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There is a frequent occurrence of grammatical errors, including missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns, punctuation deficiencies such as a complete lack of periods and commas throughout the text, and errors in pluralisation and article use, such as 'a teenager have access'. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and can cause difficulty in parsing the intended meaning of more complex statements.
