Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is considerable debate about whether information in scientific research, business and academic should be shared as widely as possible. While sharing knowledge can contribute to progress and cooperation, i believe that some information should be protected when it is particularly valuable or sensitive.
On the other hand, there are several advantages to making information freely available. The main benefit is that can sharing knowledge about the scientific research which makes the process and study easier. In business it helps to maintain a cooperation among the workers and make the work transparent to others. Sharing information is well in term of academic field due to some strong reasons like maintain a better education sysetm, improving learning and teaching skills and experiences. It also helps in creation of well known society, people and better human beings.
Honestly not all the information is safe or appropriate to share freely. Some information is too important or valuable with their own restrictions. These types of information is not good to share because it harms their work, privacy and create a lot of problems. In term of business information is their key point to became success. Mostly in scientific research, if they share as much information as possible they will be in very danger because some people are jealous about the work done by scientific research and they misused the information.
In conclusion, although sharing information can encourage innovation and cooperation, unrestricted access is not always appropriate. Therefore, information should generally be shared, but valuable, confidential or potentially harmful material should be protected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear overall view: information should generally be shared, while valuable, confidential or harmful material should be protected. The points about cooperation, transparency and educational benefits are relevant, as are concerns about privacy and misuse. However, the discussion is only partly developed. For example, the claim that sharing makes scientific study easier is not explained with a specific mechanism or example, and the business paragraph does not clarify what kinds of information should remain confidential. The point about people being jealous of researchers is also asserted rather than supported. Develop each main idea with a clear explanation and a relevant example so the response answers the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the benefits and risks, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the overall direction understandable. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some points are placed together without showing how they connect. The benefits paragraph moves from scientific research to workplace cooperation and education, then to creating a better society, with little explanation linking these claims. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal stages, but transitions are limited and some linking is awkward. Organise each body paragraph around one central idea, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “cooperation,” “transparent,” “privacy,” “confidential” and “innovation,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the argument less clear. Examples include “sharing information is well in term of academic field,” “became success,” and “misused the information.” There are also spelling errors such as “sysetm.” Aim for more precise phrases suited to the topic, such as “academic sector,” “achieve success,” and “misuse research findings.” Checking spelling and learning common collocations will help you express ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and a concession in the conclusion. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement and verb forms sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. For instance, “The main benefit is that can sharing knowledge” has an incorrect clause structure, while “These types of information is” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “it harms their work, privacy and create,” the verbs do not follow a consistent grammatical pattern. Practise building complete clauses and checking agreement, articles and verb forms. More accurate control of these basic patterns will make your ideas clearer while allowing you to use complex sentences confidently.
