Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both sides of the topic: sharing can help researchers build on others’ data, while companies may want to protect technology developed using their money and resources. You also state a position in favour of sharing. However, the discussion is minimal, and the benefits and risks are asserted rather than explained with specific examples or developed reasoning. The conclusion that sharing improves efficiency does not fully resolve how valuable or commercially sensitive information should be handled. The response also does not meet the required minimum of 250 words, so there is not enough development to cover the task adequately. Extend each viewpoint with a clear explanation and a relevant example, then clarify your own position on whether some information should remain protected.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic overall structure: an opening statement, a paragraph presenting a concern about sharing, and a final opinion. The signpost “On the other hand” helps distinguish the opposing view, and “For example” introduces an illustration. However, the progression within the first paragraph is difficult to follow, particularly in “share the data with each other it will be beneficiary in research from provided data.” The ideas are not clearly linked into a developed discussion, and the final opinion arrives abruptly. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your position, and connect each claim to its explanation and example with clear referencing and linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “research,” “data,” “scientists,” “technology,” and “resources,” which makes the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make the message harder to read, such as “beneficiary” where a word meaning helpful is needed, and “hellful” and “Accadimic.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “gether the information” and “some interest to secure the information.” Aim for accurate collocations and a wider range of terms for the two sides of the debate, such as “share findings,” “protect intellectual property,” and “commercial advantage.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your response attempts to express reasons and relationships, for example by using “if” in the company example and “meanwhile” to contrast its investment with its wish to protect information. However, the range of sentence structures is very limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. In “share the data with each other it will be beneficiary,” two clauses are joined without a clear grammatical link; “the scientists can you use” also has an incorrect verb construction. Other problems include “company make” and “sharing the information has very important.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with because, although, and if. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries.
