Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You state a personal view—that sharing problems with close friends or family can be helpful—and you refer to the opposing idea that some information should not be shared. However, the response largely shifts the question from sharing scientific, business, and academic information to sharing personal problems. As a result, it does not adequately discuss either view in the context required by the task, and the examples about friends offering advice do not support the topic. Your position is present but is not clearly connected to the issue of valuable or sensitive research and professional information. To improve, address both views directly, for example by discussing how open research can benefit society and how commercial or confidential information may need protection, then explain your own position with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response has an introduction, a main section, and a conclusion, and phrases such as “on the other hand” show an attempt to signal contrast. However, the main section is difficult to follow because it repeats the idea of sharing personal problems and moves between points without a clear progression. The labels “Overview” and “the second part of this passage” do not create a logical structure, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing together a discussion of the two views. References such as “they” and “our issues” are also unclear at times. Organise the essay into focused paragraphs—one for each view and one for your opinion—and use linking phrases to show how each idea relates to the task.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You use a small set of relevant general expressions, including “share,” “personal opinion,” “valuable,” and “freely,” so the basic topic of sharing is recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often imprecise, particularly because “issues” and “problem” are used in place of the task’s ideas about research, business information, and academic knowledge. Several spelling and word-form errors, such as “difficulet,” “dipressed,” and “personail,” make the text harder to read. Some phrases, including “feel a very relise,” do not communicate a clear meaning. Build a topic-specific vocabulary set and check spelling and collocations; this will help you express the two positions more accurately and avoid repeating the same general words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “on the other hand” and “so,” and you use some simple sentence forms. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to interpret, and control of basic grammar is inconsistent. Examples include “some information are,” “they does not how,” and “the friend have giving,” which show problems with agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Articles, pronouns, and punctuation are also frequently unclear, as in “you can share our problem” and the full stops placed within sentences. These errors often make the intended relationships between ideas hard to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses and consistent pronouns.
