Student answer (Band 5.5)

A considerable number of people believe that information as possible in scientific research, bussiness and the academic world is valuable to shared freely while other argue that it is not good to share as much information to everyone as it is too important. In this essay I will discuss both views and also describe my own opinion in this essay.

On the one hand, people argue that its a right of researchers to get access to much information as it helps in preventing duplicate discoveries and invention helps people whether to work and where its not needed yet. For instance, If there is viral infection damging all over the world, the data which a reseacher excrete he have to share that to help the others for making vaccines and some other type of tablets. So, the infection could b controlled easily without wasting time in already discovering theories.

On the other hand, people often said that its not good to give information freely so everyone have access to that as there are so many things which have to be private and if someone got access to that he/she may cause a biggest fear for the world and sometimes it also cause threat to the persons discovery. For example, if companies shares there all data may be other make duplicates of their product this thing, make innovation difficult and cause trouble for companies. Additionally, pharmascit and companies that manufactures the Military instruments if there information is leaked may be others make the weapons and medicines that cause threat to humanity.

In conclusion, from my perspective, both opinions are valuable and I think both must be balanced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and give a position in the conclusion: “both opinions are valuable” and “both must be balanced.” The examples about sharing infection data and protecting company or military information are relevant. However, the position is only briefly stated, and the essay does not explain how a balance should work or which kinds of information should be shared or restricted. Some points are also unclear or under-developed, such as the claim that access helps researchers decide “where its not needed yet.” Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation and a specific consequence, then make your own view more definite throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes the two perspectives easy to identify. However, some links between ideas are mechanical, and several references are unclear. For example, “this thing” does not clearly identify the effect of copying a company’s data, while “that” in the first body paragraph has an uncertain reference. The opening also repeats “in this essay.” Improve progression by connecting each example explicitly to the point it supports, using precise references, and avoiding repeated framing phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “duplicate discoveries,” “innovation,” “vaccines,” and “threat to humanity,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “information as possible,” “valuable to shared freely,” “data which a researcher excrete,” and “pharmascit.” Choose more natural expressions such as “as much information as possible,” “valuable to share freely,” and “research data that a scientist produces.” Check spelling carefully, especially for key topic words, and use precise terms rather than vague phrases such as “some other type of tablets” and “this thing.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if companies shares there all data” and a reason clause beginning “as it helps.” However, many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction, which sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “other argue” needs a plural verb form, “a researcher … he have to share” has inconsistent agreement, and “if there is viral infection” is missing an article. The long sentence about companies and copied products also lacks clear grammatical connections. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with conjunctions; check subject–verb agreement and article use during proofreading.
