Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the recent years, some peple believed that it is benificial to public to share the data about scientific reaserch, business and educational world, whereas some others think that some of crucial important data is highly valuable which should not be shared for free. From my perspective, it is positive to share this kind of information if it could be progress in several aspects. However, in this essay I will explore both sides of the arguments.

First and foremost, some individuals believe that crucial information should not be shared publically, because the researchers puts a lot of effort into their outcome. Therefore, everyone should pay for the outcome to get right of use, otherwise people can take that result as granted. Also, they do so many expensis for their research, high amount of equipement. Another one, some of the experiments were done privately for their actual output and sometime other competitors may leak their informations and they had to pay big loss.

On the other hand, valuable information should be shared with everyone as much as possible, because some of the people can not afford the price of it. As a result, they might be unaware of important issues or some times they might be stuck in any types of scams. Additionally, if scientist or bussinesses and educational board may shared their crucial information, sometimes they receive helps or suggestions from other researchers who alredy do some work on that and give the suggestion, which is very benificial for them as well as other researchers also may fever some assist them abouth their reaserch. For instance, imagine a poor studnet who needed to his presentations or assignments , but he could not search any scientific papers online just because the price is not affordable for him. Also, sometimes is is necessary to share.

In conclusion, paying for crucial information might be resonable, because we did the same thing in buying our goods; not everyone can pay for the information easily, and preventing the spread of knowledge might stop us from becoming a progressive society. As I see it, sharing important information generously should undoubtedly be encouraged.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: you support sharing information, while acknowledging that researchers may deserve payment for their work. The discussion of costs, competitors leaking information, and people being unable to afford research is relevant to the prompt. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The point about researchers’ expenses is introduced but not explained in detail, and the example of a student unable to access papers is not fully connected to the wider benefits of sharing. The sentence “Also, sometimes is is necessary to share” adds little support. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each position more fully and use a specific example to show why your preferred approach benefits society.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. In the second body paragraph, the sentence beginning “Additionally” contains several ideas about researchers, suggestions, and assistance, making the progression difficult to follow. “Another one” is also an imprecise way to introduce a further reason, while “Also, sometimes is is necessary to share” does not clearly connect to the preceding example. Use clearer topic sentences and divide complex chains of ideas into shorter, logically connected sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “crucial information,” “competitors,” “researchers,” and “progressive society.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the response harder to understand. Examples include “benificial,” “reaserch,” “equipement,” and “informations”; phrases such as “take that result as granted” and “pay big loss” are also unnatural. Some wording is vague, including “any types of scams” and “some work on that.” Build a more accurate set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations. For example, distinguish between protecting commercially sensitive findings and making publicly funded research accessible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause with “whereas” and a conditional structure beginning “if it could be.” However, some sentence structures are faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the researchers puts” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “if scientist or bussinesses and educational board may shared” combines an unclear subject with an incorrect verb form. The long sentence beginning “Additionally” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate clauses before combining them, and check that subjects and verbs agree and that conditional sentences use consistent forms. Shorter sentences would help you express the ideas more clearly.
