Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views by describing the benefits of sharing research and technology, then noting the danger of information being used destructively. The examples of medical research and nuclear weapons are relevant, and your conclusion gives a position: sharing should support human prosperity rather than destruction. However, the discussion is only partial: the case for keeping information private or valuable is not clearly explained, and the business and academic aspects receive little specific consideration. The opening says the issue has both advantages and disadvantages, which makes your own position less definite than the conclusion. Develop both sides more evenly, explain when information should be restricted, and support that distinction with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and risks, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the paragraph about research moves from medicines to surgery and then to business software without clearly explaining the links. Connectors such as “Although” and “for instance” are used, but the contrast introduced by “Although” is not completed clearly. Use one main point per paragraph, organise supporting examples around it, and make references and transitions more precise to create a clearer overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “scientific research,” “advancement in surgery,” “nuclear bomb,” and “human civilization,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the argument unclear, such as “expand in knowledge,” “shared unknowingly,” and “vulnerable for the entire world.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “disadvantges,” “softwares,” and “educations,” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, describe knowledge as being “shared widely,” and explain that a technology may pose a “serious threat” rather than calling it vulnerable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the benefits and risks of research. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “other believe,” “the continuously invention,” “research … help,” and “which help to saves people lives.” Several sentences also run together, particularly the long sentence about surgery and business, while capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and full stops before adding further complexity.
