Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern world, information plays a significant role in scientific research, business and education. Some people believe that information share freely, while others argue that certain infiormation is too valuable and crucial to be made available to everyone. This essay will discuss both views, and i believe that information should be shared, provided and confidential material is protected.

On the one hand, sharing information can bring many benefits to society. When scientists sahre their research findings they actually sahre their ideas with each other and also with other research fellows. For example share medical research can help scientists to develop effective reatment in various diseases. similarly stidents can improve their academic knowledge by accessing both research paper and educational resources online. In business, sharing ideas also help different companies to solve common problems. Therefore, the free exchange of information can contribute to social and economic development.

On the other hand, some information is too valuable or sensitive to be shared freely. Business often spend considerable amounts of money and time to developing new projects technologies to expand and provide more benefit to company. If their competitors obtain the information without permission, they may lose their valuable financial benefits. Furthermore, sharing confidential information without permission may also violate the privacy and leads to its misuse. For the reseans certain type of information need to be protected.

In my opinion, although sharing information is essential for progress, it should not be compulsory in every situation. General scientific findings and educational resources should be wildely availabale because they are benefited to public. However, business data should be confidential to avoid any misuse and to avoid any loss.

In conclusion, sharing information encourages scientific progress, educatuional innovation, wherease, protecting certain information act as safeguard and ensure privacy in business fields. I believe that information should be shared whenever possible, but appropariate restrictions should be necessary in some situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear, qualified position: information should be shared, while confidential material is protected. The examples about medical research, educational resources and business competition are relevant, and the conclusion returns to your main view. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you say that sharing ideas helps companies solve common problems, but do not give an example or explain how this works. The distinction between general scientific findings and business data is useful, but could be developed further by clarifying when commercial information might appropriately be shared. More specific support and fuller explanation of these points would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help readers identify the stages of the argument. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, however. “For the reasons” is used awkwardly to introduce the point about protecting information, and the final sentence of the conclusion joins ideas in a way that makes their relationship less clear. There is also some repetition of “sharing information” and “valuable.” Use referencing and transitions more flexibly, and ensure each sentence connects explicitly to the point before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “scientific research,” “confidential information,” “competitors,” “privacy,” and “social and economic development.” These choices show an adequate range and help communicate the main ideas. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors reduce precision: examples include “infiormation,” “sahre,” “reatment,” “wildely availabale,” and “benefited to public.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “research fellows” and “financial benefits” in the context of competitors taking information. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they make the writing less fluent and occasionally require the reader to interpret the intended meaning. Check spelling carefully and learn common academic collocations as complete phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional sentence beginning “If their competitors obtain the information” and a concession structure with “although.” The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “information share freely” needs a passive construction, while “sharing ideas also help” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “Business often spend,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “may also violate the privacy and leads” combines incompatible verb forms. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “For the reasons certain type of information.” These are some errors across the response, rather than isolated slips. Practise accurate agreement, passive forms and parallel verb structures while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
