Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides by arguing that environmental and academic research should be shared, while financial and confidential information should be protected, and your conclusion gives a preference for restricting sensitive material. However, the position is not fully clear in the opening, and the discussion is only partially developed: for example, you mention renewable energy and global warming but do not explain in detail how sharing this research benefits society. The point about banks protecting personal and national data is relevant, but it would be stronger with a specific example or explanation. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can develop both views. Expand the reasoning and make your opinion explicit from the introduction onward.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs beginning with “Initially” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two main sides. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and links between ideas can feel mechanical. For instance, “Another is some academic information also published freely” introduces a new point without clearly connecting it to the discussion of environmental research. References such as “this type of research” and “this site” are not always precise, so the reader may need to infer what they refer to. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, then develop it in a clear sequence with more precise referencing and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “renewable energy,” “global warming,” “pollution,” “financial sector,” and “confidential data.” These terms show an attempt to discuss the subject specifically. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. Examples include “Shared of information,” “one prescribed,” “research site,” and “the leakage of any confidential information.” Repetition of “information” and “need to be” also reduces flexibility. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing access and protection, such as “make findings publicly available” and “safeguard sensitive data,” and check word forms and collocations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the two positions and a reason introduced by “because.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “Shared of information … are good” has an incorrect subject form and agreement, while “some information need to be restricted is better” does not form a clear grammatical clause. The sentence beginning “When news published” is also missing a finite verb. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Careful proofreading for articles, verb forms, and punctuation would improve clarity.
