Student answer (Band 5.5)

Modesty people believe that exposing all informations with respect to scientific research, business and the academic world will be helpful for people. While others think that sensitive informations should not be revealed to common public. In my opinion, I strongly believe that confidential information should be shared or discussed among public. In this essay, we will discuss both of the following views.

One the one hand, we have poeple thinking that exposing every information will bring transperancy and it is a good deed. Developing an open communicative environment is indeed beneficial for the public. We can effortlessly overcome corruption and as a nation who has best interests of society can focus on the improvement of the country. For example, politicians in India discuss their goals and schemes with public before implementing it. However, in some cases this might cause panic among citizens when dealing with highly sensitive informations.

One the other hand, some people believe that valuable informations should not be shared leisurely. There are secrets when it comes to running a scientific research, business and the academic world. In order to improve their developments these may have highly sensitive information which can't be released to the public. For example, Area-51 is known for its scientific research, when exposed caused alarming incidents among pubic. Therefore, certain informations are better to be kept far away from common public and treat them as valuable source.

In conclusion, to have a transparent governance sharing infomration may seem ideal, but sensitive information may cause panic around public. Hence I strongly think that not all informations can be shared freely without expecting any alraming concerns.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both positions and state your view, particularly in the introduction and conclusion, so the response is relevant to the task. However, your position is not fully consistent: you first say confidential information should be shared with the public, but later conclude that not all information should be shared freely. The arguments are also only partly developed. Transparency and corruption are relevant points, but the link between sharing research or business information and reducing corruption needs clearer explanation. The examples about Indian politicians and Area 51 are mentioned briefly and do not fully demonstrate the claims. Make your position consistent, and explain the benefits and risks with more specific reasoning and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad progression. However, some linking is mechanical, and the argument does not always flow smoothly within paragraphs. For instance, the discussion moves from transparency to overcoming corruption and then to national improvement without clearly showing how these ideas connect. The conclusion also repeats the contrast rather than resolving the inconsistency in your position. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make references such as “these” and “this” point unambiguously to the relevant idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “transparent governance,” “sensitive information,” “corruption,” and “communicative environment.” This gives you some useful language for discussing the issue, but the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “Modesty people,” “exposing all informations,” “shared leisurely,” and “valuable source.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “transperancy,” “infomration,” and “alraming.” These issues reduce precision and naturalness. Build a bank of accurate collocations for research, confidentiality, and public access, and proofread spelling and count nouns such as “information,” which is uncountable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “when dealing with highly sensitive informations” and a conditional structure in “when exposed caused alarming incidents.” Most of the main ideas remain understandable, but some sentence patterns are faulty or incomplete. For example, “One the one hand, we have poeple thinking…” lacks a clear, well-formed construction, while “when exposed caused alarming incidents” does not clearly identify what was exposed or who caused the incidents. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “as a nation who has best interests.” Practise building complete clauses and checking that subjects, verbs, and references are clear.
