Student answer (Band 6.0)

People hold differing views on whether all information related to research, business and education must be readily available for everyone or essential information mustn't be accessible to all. Although the information may be expensive resources, I believe that research and other information should easily accessible to all so that people can use it for betterment of human.

One the one hand, there are a lot of important and undisclosable information that involve in research and development. Those information are hide to save the authenticity of the research and prevent the misuse of them. In addition, if it is freely available for all, the importance of the information will reduce and people will not understand the value. Consequently, people will not give proper attention on this valuable data. For instance, Most of the research papers have to purchase with money, if anyone wants to read it. Because researchers think that if they get them in free of cost, everyone will download it and don't use it proper way.

On the other hand, it is important that people should get the access of vital research information so that they can use it in their research and innovation which will be beneficial to the whole world. If someone get all details of the information, they will find out the scope and lacking's of that research which will help to improve researches and use it for betterment of human. Besides, these essential information will help student to develop their knowledge and improve their understanding about different aspect of the world. Student can use it in their academic study and develop new research idea based on those information.

In conclusion, although maybe there are some reason to hide the information of research and development, I believe that information should be easily available for so that people can use valuable information for improving human life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for wider access in the introduction and conclusion. The supporting points are relevant: you explain concerns about misuse and the value of research, then argue that access can support innovation and students’ learning. However, the first side is less fully explained: the claim that free access reduces information’s importance is asserted rather than supported, and the example about paid research papers does not clearly show why restricting access protects authenticity. The benefits of sharing are more developed, but remain general. To strengthen the response, explain the conditions under which information should be restricted and give a more specific example showing how open access benefits research or society.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and the central position is consistent. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “In addition,” “Consequently,” and “Besides.” Some references are also unclear, as in “they will find out the scope and lacking’s of that research,” where the referent and intended relationship are difficult to follow. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “research and development,” “authenticity,” “misuse,” “innovation,” and “academic study.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the topic beyond very basic language. However, control of word choice and collocation is uneven, and several expressions are unnatural or unclear, such as “undisclosable information,” “get the access,” “free of cost,” and “for betterment of human.” There are also word-form and spelling problems, including “lacking’s” and “researches” where the intended meaning is research gaps and research work. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by learning common academic collocations and checking whether each noun and verb form fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if it is freely available for all” and a relative clause in “which will be beneficial to the whole world.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, errors occur across sentence patterns and often make the wording difficult to process. Examples include “information should easily accessible” (missing “be”), “Those information are hide” (agreement and verb form), and “if someone get” (subject–verb agreement). Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “One the one hand” and “people should get the access.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete verb, correct subject–verb agreement, and appropriate articles. More accurate control of these basics would make your complex ideas clearer.
