Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe that sharing information freely in science, business and education is beneficial, while others think that certain information is too valuable to be shared with everyone. In my opinion, sharing information is important for development, but some information should be protected.
On the one hand, sharing information has many advantages. It allows people to learn from each other and develop new ideas. In scientific research, researchers can share their findings to help others discover new treatments and medicines. If these researchs are share with public, it is significantly beneficial for every person those need this kinda information. For example, when scientists share information about diseases, doctors can provide better treatment to patients. Similarly, students can improve their knowledge by accessing educational materials online. Therefore, sharing information can promote progress and benefit society as a whole.
On the other hand, some people believe that certain information should not be shared freely because it may have financial or personal value. In the business world, companies spend a lot of money developing new products and technologies. If they share all their secrets with competitors, they may lose their competitive advantage. For instance, a company’s unique formula or business strategy can be copied by other companies. Moreover, personal and confidential information must be protected to prevent misuse and maintain privacy.
In conclusion, although protecting valuable information is necessary, I believe that sharing knowledge is generally more beneficial. However, a balance should be maintained between sharing information for public benefit and protecting information that is private or commercially sensitive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both perspectives and state a consistent position: sharing supports development, while private or commercially sensitive material needs protection. The scientific examples—shared disease research helping doctors treat patients—and the business example of competitors copying a formula are relevant and explain the main arguments. This meets the task well, with some elements of a more fully developed response already present. However, the case for sharing in education is only briefly mentioned, and the reasons why some information is too valuable to share could be explored further, such as the costs of research or risks of misuse. Develop these points with more specific explanation to make the discussion more balanced and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction presents the issue and your view, two body paragraphs discuss opposing positions, and the conclusion restates your judgement. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to follow. Ideas within each paragraph generally move logically from claim to explanation and example. To make the links feel more flexible and less formulaic, vary the transitions and connect some sentences more explicitly. For example, the move from scientific research to students’ access to educational materials could explain how both illustrate the wider social benefits of sharing knowledge.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, and several phrases are appropriately precise, including “competitive advantage,” “confidential information,” and “commercially sensitive.” You also use relevant topic language such as “scientific research,” “treatments,” and “business strategy.” However, the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly around “sharing information,” and a few choices or forms are inaccurate: “researchs” and “kinda” are unsuitable in this formal essay, while “share with public” is not idiomatic. Aim for more precise alternatives and consistent formal register. Greater variety in describing knowledge exchange and its consequences would help you express the arguments with more flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If they share all their secrets with competitors, they may lose their competitive advantage” and a concessive clause in the conclusion. Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and punctuation and paragraphing are generally controlled. Some grammatical errors remain, especially in the sentence “If these researchs are share with public,” where the passive verb form and article use are incorrect, and in “every person those need,” where the relative clause is not formed correctly. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they show that control is not yet consistent. Practise accurate passive constructions and relative clauses while retaining your range of sentence patterns.
