Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, a section of people in this society argue that it is exceptional and beneficial to share valuable news in various fields. On the other hand, another section of individuals believe that there is no need of sharing such crucial information. This essay looks at both sides of the argument before concluding that it is not exceptional to share all information to the public.

The main motivation behind the opinion to disclose certain facts are on the grounds of a plethora of reasons.

One among them is people will certainley get a invaluable awarness about the fact through sharing such information. For instance, if there is any new useful product is invented in the field of business, for example a new model car or bike then the people can compare the new innovation with the older one to understand about its features, capacity and price range. Overall, disclosing such details play a profound influence in boosting the awarness and knowledge of people.

On the other hand, there are certain drawbacks for this activity including misusing. Nowadays it is prevalent that certain inventions in various fields are misused by the people for detrimental activities. A best example is sharing facts regarding certain drugs which are used as medicine. Details about such medicine with certain hallucination properties leads to illegal usage. Thus these practices leads to various physical and social problems. Furthermore, there is a increased risk of using such drugs for certain crimes and narcotic business. These issues severely affects the whole society as well as the peace and stability of the country.

In conclusion, it is not necessary to share valuable informations to the public which leads to certain issues which affects the sustainablity of the country owing to various crimes and misusage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present both sides and give a clear overall view that not all information should be shared publicly. The examples about a new vehicle and medicines also relate to the topic. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits are mainly explained as helping consumers compare products, while the prompt also asks about scientific research and the academic world. The risks section focuses almost entirely on drug misuse, and the conclusion repeats this concern rather than weighing the two views or clarifying when sharing is beneficial. To strengthen the response, develop a broader example, such as sharing research findings to support medical progress, and explain why some commercial or sensitive information may need protection.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear: the second body paragraph moves from drug information to crime and narcotics without clearly distinguishing the points, while the conclusion largely repeats the risks already stated. Some linking phrases feel formulaic, and references such as “this activity” and “these practices” could identify their subject more precisely. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt some less common expressions, including “detrimental activities,” “profound influence,” and “peace and stability.” The meaning is generally understandable, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “valuable news” for information and “a plethora of reasons” where the sentence does not actually list reasons. There are also spelling errors in “certainley,” “awarness,” and “sustainablity,” and “informations” is not the standard plural form. These slips do not prevent the reader from following the argument, but they reduce precision. Prefer direct, topic-specific wording and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if there is any new useful product” and a relative clause in “which are used as medicine.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the main motivation … are” should use a singular verb, while “a increased risk” needs the correct article. In “if there is any new useful product is invented,” the clause structure is faulty; a clearer version is “if a useful new product is invented.” Plural subjects also take singular verbs in “these practices leads” and “these issues … affects.” Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and simplify clauses when needed.
