Student answer (Band 6.0)

Desiminating information to public that can be used for scientific research, business and the other academic world is substantial. It helps people receive adequate information that can assist them for related literature. While some people believe that some information is too valuable to be shared freely, I firmly agree that individuals deserve to be well educated of the details in recent years.

Sharing and discussing information publicy have positive effects to people. One example is that individuals who are working in their research can use it for related literature. This will support their claims and it is easier for them to defend it. Moreover, professionals in the academe can share these information to learners and be awaken on the true knowledge they need for the future. As a result, this will give individuals enough knowledge about the world they live in. People have the right to know information that they can use for future references. It is crucial that people have access to information and that transparency is observed.

On the other hand, some people preferred not to over share information freely as there might be a negative effect. For example, since people are knowledgeable, they can use the information in harmful ways such as in scientific research and business. They can use these details against each other. Consequently, there is a possibility that the competition among companies and firms might create friction among themselves.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that people should have the knowledge with all the information. It is important to set rules and protocols when sharing information since some people might use these for their own betterment. There should be precautions to be observed, so that the information given will be used for the betterment of each individual.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both perspectives and state a clear position: you support broad access, while accepting that safeguards are needed. The discussion of benefits is relevant, particularly the point that research information can support claims and help people learn. You also recognise possible misuse and competition between firms. However, these ideas are not developed equally: the risks are described generally, and the example of companies creating “friction” does not explain what valuable information might be withheld or why. Your conclusion repeats your position and adds protocols, but the essay would be stronger if it explained more precisely what information should be shared and what should remain protected, with a specific example supporting each view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal the shift in perspective, while “Moreover” and “As a result” make some relationships between ideas clear. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations, and there are signs of more purposeful progression. However, several links feel mechanical or the references are unclear. For example, “This will support their claims” leaves the reader to infer what “This” refers to, and “these information” is not a clear reference. The first body paragraph also repeats the idea that people need access to information. Use more precise referencing and develop each paragraph around a distinct point to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “scientific research,” “transparency,” “competition,” and “protocols.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some more formal vocabulary. However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “Desiminating” should be “disseminating,” “publicy” should be “publicly,” and “professionals in the academe” is less natural than “academics.” Phrases such as “be awaken on the true knowledge” and “for their own betterment” are also awkward or unclear. Aim for accurate, natural combinations—for example, “gain access to reliable knowledge” and “use information for personal gain”—rather than choosing formal-sounding expressions that do not fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “While some people believe…” and a conditional structure in “since people are knowledgeable, they can use the information…”. Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “information … is substantial” has an unclear subject–complement relationship, “individuals deserve to be well educated of the details” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern, and “these information” has a number-agreement error. The sentence beginning “It is crucial that people have access…” shows a more controlled complex structure. To improve, check agreement and countability, use accurate verb patterns and prepositions, and revise sentences whose grammatical relationships are difficult to follow.
