Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people are of the opinion that it is a great idea to give as much information as we can in a systematic research, in trade or in educational world. Few others believe that sharing some relevant data could be a risky job.

Some people suggest to share the full knowledge and experience while doing a research . This could have a reason . Science, trade or commerce and educational research is such thing which is done for the benefit of the people and society. So it needs honesty if you are doing anything progressive for the society. For example, you are doing a scientific research about wastes of factories and you see very hazardous outcome in the data. This becomes your social responsibility to raise your voice and bring it in the attention of the authorities.

Someone who is doing a research in academic world. For example , someone working for a change in schooling system and he sees a factor which can benefit the children and society . its his responsibility that he share that data.

Some people think that there might be data which could be filtered out for a common man and for professionals . For instance, i will give the example of factory waste research as i mentioned earlier. If someone finds it that this is carcinogenic and he gets up and suddenly utters that in the public. Not only the public will panic but their is a chance that the factory owner or factory is demolished by the public.

Similarly if someone is sharing full details about their business, it can create a lot of mess for the business owner that businesses are not always stable.

So, for me, sharing data should be scrutinized , and share the data which is relevant for the group. A data specific for the public should be shared with public , data specific for the authorities should be shared with them and so on.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both perspectives and give a clear personal position: information should be shared selectively according to its audience. The factory-waste example supports the case for disclosure, while the risk of public panic and the business example introduce reasons for restricting access. These are relevant responses to the prompt. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of openness are mainly framed as a general social responsibility, and the business point that companies are “not always stable” is not explained in enough detail to show precisely what harm unrestricted sharing could cause. Develop each side with a specific consequence and make your final position more decisive about when information should be shared openly versus protected.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure: an introduction, discussion of openness, discussion of limits, and a concluding opinion. Examples help readers follow the main points, and phrases such as “For example” and “Similarly” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and paragraphing does not consistently separate the two sides: the academic example begins as a standalone paragraph without a clear link to the preceding point. Some references are also unclear, such as “that data” and “it” in the schooling example. Group the examples more deliberately, use topic sentences to identify each argument, and connect the conclusion directly to the two views rather than repeating the idea of sharing data by audience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “scientific research,” “authorities,” “carcinogenic,” and “social responsibility,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “benefit of the people and society.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “a risky job,” “in the attention of the authorities,” and “a lot of mess for the business owner.” Repetition of “data,” “share,” and “research” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise academic collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate; for example, distinguish between releasing findings, disclosing confidential information, and informing the public.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If someone finds it that this is carcinogenic…” and clauses explaining reasons and consequences. The main ideas are generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships less clear. Examples include “Science, trade or commerce and educational research is such thing,” where the subject and verb do not agree and the noun phrase needs a determiner, and “it’s his responsibility that he share that data,” where the clause structure and verb form are faulty. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, such as spaces before full stops and the fragment-like opening “Someone who is doing a research…”. Review agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
