Student answer (Band 5.5)

Individuals argue that it is more effective way to share informartion in scientific research, business and the academic world. Opposite group of people feels that many data is too valuable or too essential to be secured from others. Although, many people spend considerable time and efforts on their work and they would not share their busniess strategy to others. I believe that sharing information is beneficial for development of children and it helps to scientific discoveries.

On the one hand, many scholars prefer to secure their data and information because they spend remarkably time, money and efforts on their work. Moreover, many well- reputed organizations and enterprise would not share their busniess techniques and strategy with commercial activity because they can not loose their sales and profit. For example, a pharmaecutial company may spend many years and dollars of money on development of a new medicine, they cannot share their confidential research freels, many companies copy its finding and produced same medicine without spending money and time on it. As a result, if people share their finding to others , they withdraw their strengthens in front of public.

Furthermore, sharing information is beneficial for the overall development of children because students can used it in their future reseaches and they cannot scratch from the start. Additionally, many astronomers used previously information to gain new information about planets and glaxies. Although they can save their time and efforts, and utilized in better style. For instance, a student who study chemistry, they can use previously published research to improve their knowledge and conduct more reserch on it.

In conclusion, although people want to secure their finding, observations and data from other people because they spend valuable time and money on it. From my prespective, sharing informative infromation with others play a significant role to overall development of children because they discover new developments globally and make new discoveries and reserch without time wasting.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your own preference for sharing information, with relevant examples involving pharmaceutical research, students and astronomers. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for protecting valuable information is explained through investment and commercial advantage, while the benefits of sharing are mainly asserted rather than fully explored. The claim that sharing supports “the overall development of children” is not clearly connected to the wider academic and scientific context, and the conclusion repeats this point instead of weighing the two views. Develop the benefits for science and business more precisely, and make your position consistent and explicit throughout. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the opposing views, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion, and transitions such as “On the one hand” and “Furthermore” help signal shifts. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although they can save their time and efforts” is not a complete, logically connected sentence, and “As a result” introduces a conclusion that does not clearly follow from the preceding explanation. References such as “it” and “they” can also leave the reader unsure which people or information are meant. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “confidential,” “commercial,” “published research” and “astronomers,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “informative information,” “research freels,” “withdraw their strengthens,” and “glaxies”; these do not express the intended ideas clearly. There are also repeated general terms such as “information,” “time” and “money,” where more precise alternatives would improve the discussion. Build a reliable set of collocations for research, intellectual property and commercial competition, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More accurate, natural phrasing would make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because” and “although,” and the overall meaning is often recoverable. However, complex structures are frequently faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. For example, “many data is” has incorrect agreement, “students can used” uses the wrong verb form, and “a student who study chemistry, they can use” combines mismatched subjects. The sentence beginning “Although they can save…” is also incomplete. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense before adding subordinate clauses.
