Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's interconnected world, the sharing information plays a crucial role in scientific research, business and the academic world. So, some people argue that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic 01world, while others oppose that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. In my opinion we should share the information when it is required and is realted to the field.

On the one hand, sharing information can provide innovation and overall development. When scientist exchange their research or learning, they can build upon a new discoveries instead of repeating same reserached experiments. This helps to make work faster and easier to develop new technology and inventions. Similarly, in business exchanging information lead to be profit in the upcoming business deals.

On the other hand, sharing information can lead to be serious problem as misleading or using the information to harms other. For example, in business sharing important and valuable information may lead your competitors to make your loss in the investment or in trade which will be difficult to recover. However in scientific research sharing valuble information of may sometimes go in wrong hand and harms other as reseach for making bombs or some illegal things.

In conclusion, it is good to share as much information as we can about what we have knowledge as scientific research, business and the academic world because we learn from our surroundings but should be aware of what type of information we are sharing and to whom

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both perspectives and give a conditional opinion: information should be shared when it is relevant, while valuable material may need protection. The examples about researchers building on discoveries and competitors using business information are relevant. However, the position shifts in the conclusion, where you say it is good to share “as much information as we can,” which is broader than your earlier qualification. The ideas are also brief and under-developed; for instance, the risk of research being used to make bombs is mentioned but not explained. The response is 211 words, below the 250-word minimum, and 48 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each argument with clearer explanation and a specific example, and state one consistent position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several points are joined mechanically with “Similarly” or “However” rather than being developed through clear links. The conclusion also introduces a broader position than the one in the introduction, weakening the overall progression. Some references are unclear, such as “what type of information we are sharing and to whom,” because the preceding ideas do not specify a clear decision-making principle. Build each body paragraph around one main claim, explain its consequence, and use linking phrases only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “scientific research,” “innovation,” “competitors,” “investment,” and “valuable information,” so the reader can follow the main discussion. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “build upon” and “upcoming business deals.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts awkward or unclear: “provide innovation,” “lead to be profit,” “wrong hand,” and “researched experiments.” Spelling errors such as “realted,” “reserached,” and “valuble” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “drive innovation,” “generate profits,” and “fall into the wrong hands,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish legitimate knowledge-sharing from sensitive or commercially valuable information.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “when it is required” and a contrast between the two views. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “When scientist exchange their research or learning, they can build upon a new discoveries” has problems with plural agreement and article use; “exchanging information lead to be profit” has an incorrect subject–verb pattern; and “sharing valuble information of may sometimes go in wrong hand and harms other” is difficult to follow because of several structural errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final sentence. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clause structures before adding complexity. Breaking longer sentences into clear, correctly formed units would improve readability.
