Student answer (Band 5.5)

Currently, we are living in the era where data is readily available related to any filed of study. Nowadays, some people believe that sharing a huge amount of data in sceintific research, business and the academic world will make them worthwhile while other believe that sharing a limited and vital information is an appropriate approach. Both of the views are somehow relevant to the requirement of the situation.

For the sceintific research, business and the academic world, the amount data to be shared is totally depenedant on the requirement. However, sharing a limited and valuable information to the readers is valuable in majority of the cases. In this fast pace world, people don't have the sufficient amount of time to read all the deatials instead they are more interested to know the result. Like if the scientific research is for general public awareness the data should be limited, for instance having too much black coffee can cause illness, or a business report of outstadning problem related to inventory, these kind of report must have the limited and valuable data.

On the other hand, few subjects need a large data to drive the results. For example, if a sruvery is conducted related to the political views of the general public, it shoud be based on the large amount of data driven from public to ensure the accuracy of the results.

In conclusion, the amount of data is largely depends on the kind of reasearch, business and academic report. In my opinion, both believes have the equal weightage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a position in the conclusion: “both believes have the equal weightage.” The examples of public-health information and political surveys are relevant, and the response recognises that the appropriate amount of information depends on its purpose. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for sharing information widely is only briefly represented by the survey example, while the reasons for protecting valuable information are not clearly explained. The opening also says both views are relevant without establishing a definite position, and the conclusion repeats this balance rather than clarifying when information should be shared or restricted. Develop each side with a reason and a specific example, then state a more precise overall view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph favouring limited information, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “However,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. The progression is nevertheless somewhat mechanical, and the second body paragraph is much shorter and less developed than the first. Some references are also unclear, particularly “these kind of report,” which does not clearly connect to the two examples before it. Improve cohesion by linking each example explicitly to the point it supports and by developing the two sides in more balanced paragraphs. A conclusion that synthesises the discussion would also create a stronger sense of progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “scientific research,” “public awareness,” “accuracy,” and “valuable,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are attempts at more specific expressions, such as “data driven from public,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the message harder to follow. Examples include “filed of study,” “outstanding problem related to inventory,” and “equal weightage.” Spelling errors such as “sceintific,” “deatials,” and “reasearch” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding complexity: for instance, describe data as “collected from the public” and explain that a report should present “key findings.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if a survey is conducted,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “the amount data” needs a determiner and preposition, “other believe” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the amount of data is largely depends” combines incompatible verb forms. Articles and countability also need attention in “a limited and valuable information.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, agreement, and correct article use. Shortening some long sentences would help you control these forms while retaining complex structures.
