Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people consider it better to share as much as possible knowledge in scientific research, Commercial and medical fields. From my perspective, information ought to be shared freely in different fields which allow people to learn new ideas in business and collaborating scientific research which prove helpful to find treatment of many diseases. While, there is need to keep some information private due to some security or confidential concern. On the one hand, the information that will shared freely at commercial level help people to learn new ideas and techniques which they use it in their manufacturing. For instance, when business use this different notions to improve their product manufacturing which give them more competitive advantages in earning. Furthermore, when scientist begin to collaborate with each other and the result is the more successful breakthrough in medical advancement. For example, scientific from different countries will share their ideas for the treatment which allow them to develop more treatment for diseases . On the other hand, Critics believe that some information is confidential for companies to maintain its competitive advantages. For instance, if they will start to share every information or techniques publicly then there is the possibility that they loose their profits because technique and ideas made every business and company unique in its own way . Moreover, some information is too private and sensitive that sometimes it cause financial issue. The reason is that , if someone publicly announced that he has good trades than it might be possible someone trying to robbed him. Additionally, some information cause the intellectual concern. For instance, cloning is banned in different countries but what if someone has cloned specific organism successfully and he shared his discovery with others but it is against the law so government will definately make action on them. In conclusion, some information should be shared freely which is going to prove helpful in many aspects of fields. Meanwhile, some are too confidential that it is harmful for them if they shared publicly. I believe that some information which is related to some certain field must be shared freely with other and this collaboration prove helpful to find out the answer in which one specific person could not be.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for sharing information, while recognising that security and confidentiality can justify restrictions. The examples about scientific collaboration and companies protecting techniques are relevant and help explain the main arguments. However, some points are less fully developed: the example about someone announcing valuable trades and being robbed is not clearly connected to the broader question of information-sharing, and the cloning example introduces legal concerns without explaining how these should shape access to research. To strengthen the response, explain the limits of your position more precisely and develop each example with a clear link to the argument. Your conclusion restates your view, but could resolve the tension between open collaboration and protecting sensitive information more directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the overall direction easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven, and several ideas are joined in long sentences, making their relationships less clear. For example, the discussion of confidential company information moves from profits to personal financial security and then to cloning, without clear transitions explaining how these examples relate. Some linking is also mechanical or awkward, as in “Meanwhile” in the conclusion. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main reason, with a direct explanation connecting each example to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “collaborate,” “competitive advantages,” “confidential,” “sensitive,” and “intellectual.” These choices show an attempt to discuss scientific, commercial, and ethical aspects of the issue. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “share as much as possible knowledge,” “scientific from different countries,” and “robbed him” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “loose” for “lose” and “definately” for “definitely.” Aim to learn vocabulary in common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for the examples would make your arguments clearer and more academic in tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if they will start to share every information” and clauses beginning with “which.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “the information that will shared” needs a passive verb form, while “when business use” and “it cause” have agreement problems. The opening also contains a sentence boundary problem where “diseases. While” runs together, and several long sentences are difficult to control. Practise accurate conditionals and relative clauses, and divide complex ideas into complete, well-punctuated sentences.
