Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is a widespread believe that sharing information openly in scientific research, business and academic is beneficial. However some may argue that that certain information is too valuable to be made available freely. In my opnion, some confidential or sesntive information should not be so easily accessible to the world and should be protected.

In the world of scientific research and academics, when researchers have access to the previously avaiable information they can easily identify the gaps in the existing knowledge and recognize the areas where futher investigation is required. Moreover, through the shared information they can also identify which areas need more focus and avoid topics on which multiple researches have been conducted. For example In Covide 19 pandemic the research data was shared effectively and efficiently throughout the globe that helped researchers to investigate the gaps and limitations of the studies. However there are some aspects of researchs that should be shared fo example if a candidate is takig part in research there personal information should remain confidential.

Just like that for businesses certain information can provide a better financial standing. For eample in annual reports sharing the strong financial reports can which reflects strong performance of the company can attract investors and increase the overall market value of the business. Consequently sharing information like business proposals or product information openly into market can be threatening as this available information can be used by the compitetors easily which may lead to low credibility and loss of customer trust.

In conclusion, while its benefial for certain information to be available to the public but it can also be a ajor drawback in different levels. Protecting confidential information while sharing the important data should be top most priority in order to build trust and transparency for the public

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear view: sensitive information should be protected, while useful information can be shared. The research paragraph gives a relevant reason for openness, and the business paragraph explains how public financial reporting may attract investors while revealing commercial details can help competitors. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The academic world is mentioned in the introduction but receives little separate attention, and the examples—particularly the COVID-19 reference—are asserted rather than explained in detail. Your conclusion restates the balance but does not fully clarify which kinds of information should be shared and why. Develop each side with a more specific example and make the distinction between public-interest information and confidential material more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on research and business, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “Consequently” help show relationships between points. At times, though, progression is uneven: the research paragraph moves from the benefits of shared findings to participant privacy without a clear transition, and the business paragraph combines the benefits and risks in a long, crowded sequence. Some connections are also unclear, as in “For example In Covide 19 pandemic,” where the example’s relationship to the preceding point needs a complete, clearly punctuated sentence. Organise each body paragraph around one main view, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the opposing consideration.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “confidential,” “research data,” “financial standing,” “investors,” and “customer trust,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “gaps in the existing knowledge.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “widespread believe,” “avaiable,” “futher,” and “compitetors” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “available information openly into market” and “strong financial reports.” Aim for accurate forms and natural collocations, and avoid repeating the general word “information” when a more precise term—such as findings, personal data, or commercial plans—would make the meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “when,” “which,” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are not consistently controlled. For example, “sharing the strong financial reports can which reflects strong performance” contains an incomplete and confusing clause, while “if a candidate is taking part in research there personal information should remain confidential” needs clearer clause boundaries and grammatical forms. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as the missing comma after introductory “However” and the sentence beginning “For example.” Use shorter, complete sentences when needed, and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
