Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people prefer to pass information related to scientific research, business, and academic world, while others think that these information should not be shared with others openly. In my opinion, people should be careful while sharing information with others.

People have a tendency to share knowledge with others naturally. If people do not share anything with one another then others may not know what is going on around them or the world may not be able to reach where it is now. For example, whenever someone invents something, they should share with others so that others can be enlighten. If it is something beneficial for the human race, then everyone can enjoy the benefits of this new invention. Besides, others can share their experience or opinions related to the invention which the inventor might not notice. It will help them to modify or improve their work.

However, sometimes it can be dangerous to share all types of information related to scientific research or academic world with people. Because people may not have a good intention and they can misuse the sensitive information. There are plenty of examples in the history where one researcher takes away another's idea. So, one should not share importants aspects which are related to their work with anyone freely.

When something new happens or someone invents something in the fields of science, business, and academia, people have a right to know but in a limited way. Therefore, I think scientists or researchers should be conscious enough when it comes to share information with others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both perspectives and give a clear, consistent position: information should be shared, but with caution. The benefits paragraph explains how sharing can spread useful inventions and allow others to suggest improvements, while the opposing paragraph raises misuse and the theft of ideas. These are relevant reasons, so the response fulfils the main task. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the risk of misuse is not illustrated with a specific example, and the claim that people have a right to know “in a limited way” is not clarified. Develop this qualification by explaining what should be shared openly and what might need protection, and support the risks with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present contrasting arguments, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Besides,” “However,” and “Therefore” help readers follow the progression. This organisation is effective, and the ideas are generally sequenced logically. To make the flow more flexible and precise, strengthen the links between claims and explanations rather than relying mainly on familiar transitions. For example, the move from the possibility of idea theft to the recommendation not to share important aspects could explain the connection more explicitly. Some references, such as “it” in “It will help them,” could also be made clearer by naming the feedback or experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “sensitive information,” “misuse,” “invention,” and “modify or improve,” which allows you to discuss both benefits and risks. The meaning is generally clear, but several word-choice, form, and collocation problems limit precision. “These information” is incorrect because “information” is uncountable, while “be enlighten” and “importants aspects” show inaccurate word forms. Phrases such as “share information … with people” and “related to their work” are understandable but broad or repetitive. Aim for more precise expressions suited to the topic, such as “disseminate findings,” “protect commercially sensitive data,” and “intellectual property.” Check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional sentences (“If people do not share anything…”) and clauses introduced by “so that” and “which.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, however. For example, “these information” has a number-agreement problem, “they should share with others” is missing an object, and “when it comes to share” needs a gerund construction (“when it comes to sharing”). The sentence beginning “Because people may not have a good intention” is also a fragment when separated from the preceding sentence. Review articles, countability, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence forms.
